teaser 1 quality and safety

As a leader in intermodal logistics, Bertschi knows that our employees - whether drivers, technical staff or office personnel - are our most valuable asset. Workplace safety is a core value that shapes our daily operations. In the field of chemical logistics, where the handling of sensitive substances involves significant risks, the importance of high safety standards is crucial requiring the highest levels of care and attention.

To maintain these standards, we provide ongoing safety training tailored to the specific responsibilities of our employees. Our drivers, for example, receive specific training in sustainable driving techniques and learn how to handle equipment during loading, unloading and transport. They are also trained in the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect themselves and their colleagues from potential chemical exposure and other hazards.

Road safety is fundamentally linked to the actions of our drivers, who must operate their trucks and equipment with professionalism and care. But our commitment to safety extends far beyond the driver's seat. It depends on the expertise of our workshop professionals, who ensure that our fleet of trucks and containers is not only functional, but also optimised for maximum performance on every route. Our workshop staff undergo regular practical and theoretical training, complemented by monthly safety spot checks in the workshops and cleaning stations to ensure that safety protocols are being implemented and followed.

Maintaining safety in the workplace is essential not only for the well-being of our employees, but also for the protection of our customers, the environment, and the communities we serve. It is important to recognise that safety is a shared responsibility that affects not only ourselves but everyone around us. Therefore, following safety protocols and avoiding risky situations is essential. We actively encourage all employees to promptly report near misses, which helps us to identify and eliminate unsafe conditions in the workplace, with customers, or in the office.

When faced with unsafe situations, vigilance and proactivity are key. Critically assessing situations and consulting a supervisor when necessary are essential steps in making safe decisions. We embrace the principle of "Stop at Risk" by taking the time necessary to ensure the safety of ourselves and others!
