Celebrating 25 Years in ChemPark and Launch of the new Integrated Site Logistics Concept “Last Mile”

Bertschi celebrated 25 years of successful operation at our container terminal G80 in ChemPark Leverkusen, Germany. It was also the ideal occasion to officially announce the implementation of our newly established integrated site logistics concept together with a global key account customer.

25 Years of Reliable Service

G80 terminal has been in operation since 1999, making it 25 years old this year. It was the first place in ChemPark Leverkusen to implement a fully integrated logistics solution. This concept allows producers to eliminate land tanks but transfers material directly into transportable containers, cutting costs and streamlining the process for immediate transport.

Such container-based concept also creates more flexibility and enables shorter lead times of supply to their respective customer.

Introducing the "Last Mile" Logistics Concept

At the event, we also implemented our new "Last Mile" logistics concept together with a global key account customer. Over the past two years, this concept has been jointly developed to improve inbound receipt and intermediate storage, heating, and shunting of tank containers upon demand to nearby production facilities within the ChemPark. Bertschi was prepared to invest significantly in terminal infrastructure, a special transport equipment, and added qualified employees full-time to ensure we can manage the additional volumes and site operations with a 2-shift system smoothly during the agreed contract period and beyond.

In this respect, Bertschi has underlined again its commitment to provide customer-focused services and it will also strengthen our position being recognized as reliable logistic partner within the ChemPark.

Acknowledging Our Team

Robin Gehlen, General Manager in the Rhein-Ruhr region also took this opportunity to express our appreciation towards our long-serving employees at G80. In particular, Ralf Spahn and Steffen Rossa, for their outstanding and tireless efforts over the past 20 and 25 years, respectively, here at G80 and previously as truck drivers based at the Cologne-Eifeltor depot. Their hard work and dedication over the years have played a big part in our success. We are proud to celebrate this milestone with them and look forward to continuing to work together.

Looking Ahead

This celebration was not just about looking back but also about our plans for the future. We are excited about the opportunities that the new logistics concept will bring and are committed to continuing our successful collaborations here at ChemPark Leverkusen.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years. We look forward to many more years of working together at Bertschi Container Terminal G80.
