New Warehouse in Tarragona - for Drumming Operations

Terminal Tarragona

Expanding services in Tarragona: since April 2023, the Spanish subsidiary has been operating a new bottling station in a 1,000-square-metre warehouse.

Tarragona is Spain’s biggest location for chemicals. Around one quarter of all chemical production in Spain takes place in Tarragona. The highly industrialised region in Catalonia used to attract international customers in the past. For that reason, the subsidiary in  Tarragona is of great strategic importance to the Bertschi Group.

Currently, production costs in Spain are low compared to the rest of Europe, which is also encouraging our customers to produce in Spain. As a result, demand for customer-specific drumming services also increased. To meet the growing requirements of a selected group of customers, Bertschi invested in additional drumming capacity for the Bertschi site in Tarragona.

Since April 2023, we have been operating a new drumming station in a 1,000-square-metre warehouse near our office building in the Riu-Clar industrial estate in Tarragona. The services at the new site include filling IBCs and drums, packaging/order picking them and loading the filled containers. The warehouse has over 800 storage locations for pallets and IBCs. It will be easy to increase this number in the future by installing a racking system.

In addition to the drumming station, the warehouse is equipped with a small office building and a weighing station for trucks. The setup is complemented by two electrically operated forklifts, a packaging machine for palletised drums, and a ramp for loading sea containers. Because it has its own weighing station inside the building, trucks can be efficiently weighed at the entrance in one go, the product can be unloaded, and the truck can be weighed again at the exit

The new warehouse will allow us to serve our customers even more efficiently and focused while providing maximum security.
